For immediate release - 10/05/06 Subsidised Training for Test Valley BusinessesTest Valley Borough Council has contracted a specialist training company in Hampshire to deliver a workshop for small businesses to learn how to bid for local authority contracts. The Council has recently pledged to sign the Small Business Friendly Concordat and is aiming to increase the amount it spends with local companies and sees education on procurement processes as being a major contributor to this. The Council’s Economic Development Officer said: “We want to give small businesses in the Borough every opportunity to thrive. We are actively demonstrating our support and commitment by sponsoring and piloting free specialist training for small businesses to help them understand how they can be a contractor for the council.” Paul Cooper, Managing Director of Protégé Management – who delivers the training, said: “The Public Sector spends about £125 billion each year, of which some £28 billion goes to small to medium sized enterprises. The training we provide not only focuses on local opportunities, but shows the potential of bidding nationally and internationally as well.” The workshop will be delivered on 26th June at Test Valley Borough Council’s Beech Hurst office in Andover. It is open to small companies within the borough boundaries at a subsidised cost of just £50 + VAT for the days Workshop.
